3018
Daniel Arsham’s fifteenth exhibition with Perrotin. You read that correctly. 15th exhibition. This man is not messing around.
“3018 continues Arsham’s dystopian vision of the future, one in which culture as we know it today is eroded, and the objects of modern life have fallen into aestheticized obsolescence.” - Perrotin Press Release
It’s impressive when an artist can work in more than one medium and in 3018, Daniel has works in sculpture, film and performance.
The first floor was a circus when I arrived at Perrotin (to which I contributed greatly). I saw people taking photos in front of the iconic 1981 Delorean and 1961 Ferrari 250GT California with wads of money and other various props.
This isn’t completely surprising since Arsham’s sculptures could easily fit in on a post-apocalyptic movie, or better yet, music video set.
The second floor is more conceptual - featuring a large ‘FUTURE’ sculpture, which appears to be draped in a white sheet.
“FUTURE acts alternately as a harbinger of the cataclysm that has befallen these fond objects of the recent past, or as a signpost for some saving grace ahead.” - Perrotin Press Release
Scattered throughout the room in front of this alter are various Disney characters and bunny’s, also wrapped in cloth and rope.

That’s when you know you’re cool
I had the pleasure of eating lunch in very close proximity of Daniel Arsham at Art Basel. Because I am who I am, I even snapped this epic selfie of the two of us.
His own personal instagram is pretty great as well.
Some great press around '3018'
Arsham is represented by a pretty spectacular bundle of galleries
Galerie Emmanuel Perrotin (Paris, Hong Kong, New York, Seoul)
Moran Moran in Los Angeles
Baro Galeria in Sao Paulo
Pippy Houldsworth in London
Galerie Ron Mandos in Amsterdam
Emmanuel Perrotin (Arsham’s biggest cheerleader) - who Architectural Digest has quoted as a ‘Hipster Paris Dealer” .
Emmanuel Perrotin has a rich and exciting history when it comes to the art world. He opened his first gallery in 1990 and has developed some of the most famous (and popular) artists of our time Maurizio Cattelan, Takashi Murakami, KAWS, Jean-Michel Othoniel, Xavier Veilhan, or Sophie Calle.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a show at Perrotin that wasn’t incredible. Perrotin influences hype and pop culture in the way that Gagosian influences the contemporary art market.
