Factory Reset
Factory Reset, An exhibition by Eric Yahnker at The Hole is on view November 15th – December 23rd, 2018 and is...
“A vision of America today and a culture in need of a “factory reset”, erasing all content and settings, wiping the memory, rebooting the corrupted system.” - The Hole Press Release
Yahnker usually creates works with either graphite or colored pencil, but for ‘Factory Reset’ he shakes it up, and experiments with Pastel on sandpaper.
“I think Americans are as divided as ever. This sociopolitical landscape is due in large part to self-segregation and self-serving algorithms. People want to be around other like-minded folks, so we pool ourselves in neighborhoods where everyone looks like us and agrees with us.” - Eric Yahnker for It’s Nice That
“All this is as seen through the cracked lens of a 40-something, Jewish, West Coast progressive artist and political satirist, who not only deems himself a red, white, and blue-blooded patriot, but is also a newly-minted father to a badass little girl that I’ll have to one day tell the story of Trump to (without vomiting).” - Eric Yahnker
“The pieces in the show look at both how we got here and urgently ask how do we get the hell out of here.” - The Hole Press Release
The Hole...who has a brilliant habit of transforming it's space for each exhibition really out-did it this time.. with Andy Warhol's Factory inspired aluminum floor and white walls.
DEAD over these Obama sneakers at Untitled Art Fair in Miami Beach.
Even more dead over this Trump/Zuckerburg mashup.....and slightly terrified
Eric is represented by The Hole in New York. He was represented by Ambach & Rice Gallery in Los Angeles...but they appear to not exist anymore? RIP.
Eric works and lives in LA.. and is a Native Californian.
