An entire exhibition depicting individuals sitting around tables. But as we all know, very important things happen at tables whether it’s a frank discussion, a joyful family dinner, or a ritualistic business gathering, ect.
“I have always wanted to do a painting of an art department faculty meeting – having spent 35 years of my life attending them. But I couldn’t find a way to make it interesting… I didn’t want a collection of portraits, but a kind of psychological essence of particular moments in meetings.” - Mernet Larsen
Larsen has a unique sense of painting that bends the traditional views on ‘perspective’ through a geometric lense she applies. She takes inspiration from the following

Larsen was a professor at The University of South Florida for 35 years (holy cow), and is represented by James Cohan. She now is focused just on painting and has various gallery shows.
