New York Art Galleries - Chelsea
Chelsea is famous for having the most galleries in one space. You could easily visit 20 gallery openings on a thursday if you felt like it. If you look at the list below you can also see that many galleries have taken over multiple locations, some even building massive, multi-story compounds like Zwirner and Pace.
While these are not ALL of the galleries in a particular neighborhood, these are the galleries I go to regularly because they have an interesting program and are more likely than not to put on a great exhibit. This is particularly important with Chelsea because there are SO many galleries to choose from, if you’re short on time I would reference the list below.
If you only have time to visit a handful of galleries this is my go-to short list…
