Wade Guyton
Props to Petzel for putting out the shortest press release I’ve ever seen in my life for Wade Guyton and Stephen Prina’s show, on view at the Chelsea location from October 26th-Oct 27th. Yes that’s right just two days.
Wade is known for making digital prints on canvas.
“ Along with artists like Walker, Seth Price and Tauba Auerbach, Guyton is regarded by some to be at the forefront of a generation that has been reconsidering both appropriation art and abstract art through the 21st-century lens of digital technology.” - Wikipedia
Just because this was a short exhibition doesn’t mean Guyton isn’t a worthy artist. In 2012 he had a retrospective at the Whitney Museum in New York.
His works sell for over 1 million dollars at auction (cha-ching). His work ‘Untitled’ sold for a whopping 5,989,000 USD in 2014 at Sothebys. (his most expensive sale to date).
AND he has works in
The Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles
The Centre Pompidou in Paris
The Carnegie Museum in Pittsburgh and many more…..
He’s represented by the following galleries:
Petzel Gallery, New York
Galleria Gió Marconi, Milan
Galerie Gisela Capitain, Cologne
