Zonamaco. My favorite art fair, at the Centro Citibanamex in Mexico City. It's not only in one of the best cities on earth..but it has a wonderful combination of exhibitors ranging from the Blue Chip galleries like Pace and Perrotin, to the ‘cool kids’ like The Hole, to locals like House of Gaga and Karen Huber gallery.
More importantly is the laid back atmosphere...that’s sometimes missing at more institutionalized art fairs like Art Basel. For example, I left with not only a souvenir tote bag but a ‘golden’ ashtray in the iconic Zonamaco skull design. I also got a shot of 1800 tequila for $2….so that also kicked off the fair quite nicely.
Also Disclaimer: I was a completely green ‘Instagrammer/blogger,’ or whatever you want to call me and I took pictures and didn’t document who the artist or booth’s were...so I apologize! I’ll do a much better job this year :)....just wait a few weeks. For now just picture you’re at the fair…
A wine break is mandatory at any fair......
And of course I had to end the day with the best food on earth. I'm seriously counting the days until February 6th! (Zonamaco 2019).
